Creating Lasting Impressions in the Hearts of Foster Kids

"This is the best day of my life!" one little girl told her foster mom. She was referring to the Fun Fest for Foster (Resource) and Adoptive Families hosted by the Royal Family Kids Camp team at Ventura Missionary Church on July 13, 2019. The resource and adoptive parents were grateful for the incredible day that was provided for their families free of charge.

130 volunteers enthusiastically facilitated a petting zoo, bounce houses, art projects and games. Kids were able to have their pictures taken while sitting in vehicles brought by The California Highway Patrol, Ventura County Sheriff's Department, and United States Air Force Security Forces. Star Wars characters wandered the parking lot so that kids could pose for pictures with them as well. There was a balloon artist, face painters, a raffle with prizes and so much more.

Donors like Coca Cola, Girl Scouts Central Coast, Winco, Sam Hill and Sons, Ralph's, CVS, Critical Advantage Consulting and many more contributed to the experience. At least five other churches also participated. Vanessa Songer, one of the event organizers says, "We were overwhelmed and encouraged by the love, generosity and servant hearts of all the people there. It was really beautiful!" What a privilege it was to be a part of creating lasting impressions in the hearts of foster children!
