Fruitful Year of Ministry to College Students

VMC missionaries, Alex and Lauren Piasecki, serve with InterVarsity. This year, more small groups were meeting and more decisions were made for Jesus than ever at Chico State where they serve. Alex and Lauren were able to plant an InterVarsity chapter on Butte College's campus, and two recent Chico graduates re-planted an InterVarsity community at Shasta College, as well.

The Piasecki's say, "God has shown up in big ways this year. At each of our conferences in the Fall and Spring, we experienced God's grace and presence in healings of our students, new decisions for faith and transformed living in discipleship. Two freshmen men came to our 'Mark Camp' during Spring Break, not ever coming to InterVarsity before, and not being Christians themselves. By the end of the week, they were experiencing such impactful transformation through studying Scripture, worship and joyful relationships, that they both experienced new faith and life in Jesus. Now, several months later, they are still pursuing Jesus and are a catalyst in our community, leading worship and Bible studies."

Here are some of the other highlights of 2017:

- More than 100 students were involved in the Piasecki's InterVarsity chapter.

- 22 students helped plan and run all InterVarsity events and Bible studies.

- 15 Bible studies met weekly.

- 34 students committed to faith in Jesus (up from 11 commitments last year).
