So Much to Celebrate!

Last week at Ventura Missionary can be summed up in one word, "Celebrations!" On Friday, November 18, Rooted ended their 10-week Fall Discipleship Experience with an exclamation point. 164 participants celebrated with a night of worship and testimonies. God did some incredible things in the lives of those who were a part of this opportunity to connect with God, their church community and their purpose. Here are a few of the testimonies from the evening:

- 10 weeks ago I felt abandoned. Today I feel surrounded by God's love and people.

- 10 weeks ago I felt alone. Today I feel loved and understood as I am.

- 10 weeks ago I had reservations within my faith. Today I am all in!

- 10 weeks ago I was depressed and moving backwards. Today I am moving forward and have started to break chains that have bound me.

- 10 weeks ago I relied on myself. Today I trust God.

- 10 weeks ago I was depressed and moving backwards. Today I am moving forward and have started to break chains that have bound me.

- 10 weeks ago I was floundering and unfocused. Today I am committed and grateful.

- 10 weeks ago I was searching for a deeper relationship with Christ. Today I've been given the tools to grow in the Holy Spirit.

- 10 weeks ago I got Rooted. Today I am blossoming in the Lord.

When asked what the best part of Rooted was for them personally, here are some of the responses:

- Having a group that was so supportive and knowing I have made true forever friends.

- Finding purpose in my life after getting laid off from my job of 22 years.

- The testimonies and making new friends and brothers and sisters in Christ.

- Mostly it helped me to learn the Bible more and I loved the fellowship with my group. Also, admitting my strongholds and learning my purposes.

On Sunday, November 20, all 3 of our services were settings for baptisms that prompted cheers and tears. 27 people in all were baptized, 7 of which were from the Fall Rooted Experience. The Rooted groups for those individuals were on hand to cheer their new friends on as they committed to follow Jesus for the rest of their lives. Several men who are breaking chains of addiction through the ministry of Casa de Vida and by the power of God were also baptized. Children and teens enthusiastically proclaimed their faith in Christ as well. One of those teens was baptized by his father. The congregation was noticeably stirred by all who were declaring their faith. The last to enter the waters during the 9:30 service was a couple in their 80's, Walter and Lola Wooten (pictured above). With that crescendo, the tears really started flowing. We were witnessing the impact of God's transforming love in the lives of people from 7 to 82!
